Piano Lessons

The piano is a highly versatile instrument! Piano lessons are a great way to build a strong foundation of musical knowledge. That’s why we often recommend piano lessons to both our youngest students and late-life learners.

The piano can easily be played by people of all sizes, and you don’t have to hold it in your hands. It can be easily played sitting down. If you don’t have a piano in your home, you can also try an electric keyboard. Electric keyboards often have a variety of sound options that let you change the type of sound you can make with the instrument!

A full-size piano has 88 keys – 36 black keys and 52 white keys. Some keyboards come with fewer keys, which means the spectrum of notes that you can play is not as large. A full size piano has the broadest range of notes of any instrument- the lowest note on a piano is lower than a string bass, and the highest note is higher than a piccolo! With piano lessons, you’ll learn how to play every note.

Piano is used in almost every type of music you can imagine. Since you play with both hands, it’s easy to make a “full” sound, because you play both the bass and melody line yourself! EMA piano lessons teach the use of two-handed piano, and will give you the dexterity to play all your favorite songs.

Although many piano teachers focus only on classical music, many of our piano students like to learn popular songs that they can sing along to in their piano lesson. EMA piano instructors can arrange popular songs at your learning level so that even the most complex popular songs are approachable. We’ve had students learn Disney songs, movie soundtracks, pop songs, video game themes and more!
