Flute Lessons

The flute is an excellent instrument for creating high pitched melodic lines in any band, orchestra, jazz band, or pop/rock band! The flute provides the player with one of the lightest instruments in the woodwind family. The flute usually plays the melody in concert band settings – they often provide the main “singable” part of the ensemble.

How is the Flute Played?
A flute is played by blowing across a tone hole almost like blowing across a water bottle. The flutist then can change the notes one of two ways:

  1. By pressing different finger combinations
  2. By varying the air speed against the tone hole.

Benefits of Private Flute Lessons:
Flute students can eventually try other flutes such as the piccolo, alto, or bass flute! Students who play flute in their school bands are highly encouraged to study the instrument privately to deepen their understanding and skills of the instrument and music in general.

A private lesson teacher not only can help the student play music and exercises from concert band, but can also help learn more techniques and solo repertoire for solo/ensemble contests and auditions.
